A Utah man was killed Saturday when and three passengers seriously injured when their car crashed on I-80 near Battle mountain.
According to NHP Trooper Jim Stewart preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Bryan Doxsee, age 21, from Smithfield, Utah, was driving a Chevy passenger car westbound on I-80 near mile marker 233.
For unknown reasons, Mr. Doxsee allowed his vehicle to travel off the right (north) dirt shoulder where it hit a road marker. The vehicle continued to travel on the dirt shoulder when Mr. Doxsee corrected his steering to the left, causing his vehicle to rotate counterclockwise. The right rear of the vehicle struck a fence post and the right side struck a concrete abutment causing it to overturn across the abutment.
The vehicle came to rest on its top facing north just west of the abutment. Two of the four occupants were fully ejected from the vehicle. The third occupant was seatbelted and remained inside the vehicle. The driver, Mr. Doxsee, suffered fatal injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt.
