A two day search for a missing plane ended tragically Wednesday with the discovery of its wreckage and the bodies of the pilots  in southern Idaho.
Danny Summers, 55, and Jodi Wyatt, 47, were found dead Wednesday afternoon by Twin Falls County Search and Rescue members.
Elko County Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Carpenter said the missing airplane left Wendover, Utah, at approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday, en route to Idaho Falls. It was expected to arrive at 5 p.m., but was reported overdue at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday by a friend awaiting its arrival.
The search centered on a 50-square-mile area approximately 18 miles east of Jackpot. A preliminary search of the area via snowmobile has turned up no signs of the downed aircraft. Snow in the area is causing poor visibility. The search is limited due to the weather conditions which have caused poor visibility and travel difficult.
Civil Air Patrol pilots located the aircraft shortly before noon Wednesday, and Twin Falls County Sheriff’s deputies reached the remote crash site by ground.
The aircraft is described as a 1952 Korean War era single engine aircraft, converted for private use similar to the plane above.
