A couple stopped for speeding in Ely, Monday, are now facing drug trafficking charges and a $300,000 total bail, according to white Pine Under Sheriff Scott Henroid.
Michael Williams, age 39 and Tera Lasell both of Butte, Montana are still in the White Pine County after being charged with trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Henroid the couple was stopped by a White Pine Deputy for speeding in the Ely area.

The Deputy reported that a K-9 was used during the traffic stop and that the K-9 alerted positive for a controlled substance in the vehicle. During the officers search of the vehicle 62.5 grams of methamphetamine, 6.8 grams of cocaine, 24.4 grams of marijuana, 2.4 gram of hashish and $6,352 were located.
“It was quite a bit of drugs,” Henroid said. “Enough to be charged with trafficking. He should have obeyed the speed limit.”
