The tide appears to be turning against Abraham “Trucker” Morales at least on the web, as he still eludes police over 4 weeks after escaping from custody.
“I have been a resident for quite some time here in Wendover and im sorry to say but your “HERO’ trucker is on probation and a known member of the REBElS 13 gang. Its always funny how the local police are criticized for what they do but the first time you need them they are there and as for real crime, please lets remember the homicides we have had and been solved. Everyone throws the blame at the police but if you dont call or get involved how are they supposed to do their jobs. Im sure WWPD would love to have you lovely citizens that complain try to work in the conditions they work in, 7 days a week, 24 hrs a day and 365 a year whether its a holiday or not and i dont know to many people that are complaining could even pass the academy these people go through. Morales was arrested around 4:30 am Monday June 4, when they arrived to break up a fight at a local bar that he was not involved in and that was no longer going on. According to the police department press release Morales only obvious infraction was yelling them.
Morales was handcuffed and placed in a patrol car for transport. Officers were then alerted to another fight at the same bar. As police investigated the second fight, Morales freed himself from the police vehicle and fled the scene while still handcuffed.
Morales’ escape and the police so far failure to recapture him has turned him to something of a hero especially in Wendover’s large Latino community.

While most of the earlier post have leaned heavily in favor of Morales, later posts such as the one above are much more supportive of police including the following poster “HAHA’ who appears to have access to Morales’ criminal record even going back to when he was a juvenile:

He was on probation back in 2002 got arrested for violating it when he was 14.
Then in 2004 he was arrested in Elko for obstructing a police officer(yeah it’s a conspiracy the Elko police department are in on it also).
Then was arrested later that same year for failure to appear in court(again the WWPD held him against his will so he couldn’t attend court.)
Then was arrested in 2005 for theft.
Then in 2009 he was arrested again for possession/sale of a controlled substance, having drug paraphernalia
Then arrested not much longer after that arrest for a DUI being on drugs.
Let’s see he was arrested in February 2010 on a drug related warrant and was found to have marijuana in his butt crack.
Then arrested again in 2010 for violating his probation.
To those who say that he is being picked on for doing nothing, you do realize that he is on probation and just by him being at a bar violates his probation. He is a known felon. So the police were just doing their job when they arrested him. It’s unfortunate he got away because he deserves to be locked up. He apparently(according to his track record) thinks the laws don’t apply to him. He is just picked on by the big bad police department.
On another note I agree with Former Resident, there does need to be more done about the drug problem. There is two things needed to fight it, resources and money which the police department does not have. They do the best job they can with the limited resources they have. People tend to forget that Nevada is not in the best economic shape and budgets have been slashed across the state.
If you don’t like what goes on in the Police Department then go get the training and join the force. YOU strap on a bullet proof vest. YOU put your life in danger day in and day out. YOU do the best job you can with limited resources. But YOU won’t you just like to whine and complain on how the cops are picking on you or Abraham Morales.
Most people know that the best way to have the cops to leave you alone, is to not break the law. Abraham Morales doesn’t get that and apparently you don’t either.
If Abraham Morales is a local hero than that is a sad day for West Wendover.

Nope didn’t have access to his juvenile records . I did a search for Abraham morales on Elkodaily.com. They had police blotters on him going all the way back to when he was 14.
I was actually surprised his juvenile stuff was on there.
Cops here are racist drug addicts and if a mexican calls the cops for help they do nothing to help
Trucker is a young man that has made some poor choices in his life. Does this make him a bad kid. No, I had the opportunity to coach this young man in both football and baseball. He was always very respectful and did what was asked of him. We must always remember that all kids are good they just make poor decisions from time to time. I am sure if Trucker would not have reacted to this situation, the outcome may have been different. I don’t condone the actions or choices he has made in this situation and my advice to him would be to turn himself in so that he may get on with his life. He has made one poor decision, don’t let it lead to many more. I know in my heart that one day, he will be a great father, friend and community member. Please help Trucker make the right decisions in life and move forward so that he may move on. You are losing this game right now, time is one thing you will never get back. I wish you the best.

I would say these cops are 50/50.. “Sometimes they do a good job” and sometime they just plain and simple, Suck. Once there was an argument between neighbors and the property manager requested for an officer..the argument kept going for an hour and no one ever showed up. Luckily, it didn’t go further than just the argument..but what could have possibly kept them from showing up? They were called at 1a.m., did they only have one officer on duty?
When I have the other 50 side of it (something where they did a good job with) I’ll let you know..
Just read in the police blotter, Abraham was arrested in Ely on the 5th on a parole and probation hold. Poor Abraham 🙂
the cops may be there after the crime and actually act like they do something but fyi there are detectives called from other cities to solve the crimes! and when the crimes are happening these wendover cops are nowhere to be found (cowards) and unfortunately the lives the are lost will never return. where were the cops when there was a hit and run and the victim was left in the middle of the boulevard for 3 hours! 3 hours!!!!!!!!!! they could have saved his life if the pigs who were supposed to be doing their jobs would have passed by the only boulevard in wendover and see this poor man!! but no instead they’d rather go harass young people like Abraham and many others because they feel like they have to some kind of power but in reality they’re just scared of real crime!! wendover needs actual police officers not these ridiculous people who like to play pretend.

I’v e had the displeasure of knowing trucker in and outside of school. In school he disrespectful, disruptive, obnoxious, and a bully. Outside of school not much has changed. Just like J.L and HAHA said you don’t like it then do something about. Go to police academy, start a petition. There are alot of ways of changing thing, but most of the people complaining are criminals. To Trucker is better then you, police records are public information you can go to the court house and get a rap sheet on just about anyone.

Im glad that Greenland posted on here. I was also in a class with trucker, where we ALL moved back up to our grades because we spent a month and a half finishing half of one grade and catching up in the other. And of course J.L you have “spoken to the pd” and you don’t get a real answer. Those of us who are complaining are not all Truckers friends. Some of us like my self and Greenland know the real Abraham Morales.
