A couple from Wasilla, Alaska are now in the Elko County Jail on armed robbery charges following a hold up of a Wells gas station Sunday.
Jason Avila, 37, and Lavern Tolson, 32, are cooling their heels in jail on a combined $30,000 bail bond for the robbery of the Wells Sinclair Station Sunday morning.
According to Elko Sheriff’s report Avila robbed the store while Tolson waited in their car described as a late model white Toyota 4-Runner.
Avila got two drinks and two snacks and then went to the cashier and handed her a note that said, “Give me all your money I have a gun.”
The clerk asked if Avila was serious and the man allegedly pulled up his shirt and showed her a handgun tucked in his waist. The clerk emptied the register and the couple took off. But not before the alert cashier noted which direction they were heading- south on US 93 to Ely, Nevada.
She called the local sheriff’s substation reported the robbery and gave deputies a description of the vehicle and the suspects.
Elko Deputies contacted their counterparts in white Pine county and the Alaskan Bonnie and Clyde ran into a welcoming committee on US 93 composed of White Pine lawmen.
Avila was booked on charges of burglary, petit larceny, robbery with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon without permission.
His bail was listed at $19,637.
Tolson was booked on charges of conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Her bail was listed at $10,000.
