Former West Wendover City Councilwoman Leslie Kay Haslam died last week at the age of 52, died in West Jordan, Utah.
She was twice elected to the city council but was forced to resign in her second four year term due to various health problems and terrible chronic pain.
She was born November 19, 1960 in Payson, Utah, to Jack Christensen and Geraldine Knowles Christensen. She was an outstanding student and athlete in her younger years. She loved and cared for others even with her debilitating pain and poor health. She gave her money to help others.
She was exceptionally talented throughout her work years especially as “Director of Credit & Collection” at Resorts at Wendover. Her chronic pain led to a decline in various areas of her life.
Her greatest, greatest attribute was her love for her children Michele and Jordan. She loved and cared for them all her life. They were truly the light of her life. She was so proud of them and spared nothing to help them be successful.
She is survived by her daughter Michele Haslam Reno, Nevada, son Jordan Haslam (U.S. Army), brothers Kevin (Geri) South Jordan, Utah, Mark (Shellie), and Michael (Des) all of Pilot Valley, Nevada. Preceded in death by sister Susanne Michele Christensen , mother Geraldine Knowles Christensen, father Jack Christensen.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 19, at 11 am at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 W. Riverton where friends may call 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be in West Jordan City Cemetery.
