“Why I’m Optimistic About Our Nation’s Future”
by Ty Morley
Since 1776 when we declared our independence from Britain and gained our freedom as Americans, the UNited States has definitely had its ups and downs in the past. Many people fear what the future holds for America and its citizens. Fear should not be a roadblock for optimism for our future. To be optimistic about our nation’s future means to be hopeful and confident. Helen Keller once said, “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” Our nation is a strong nation that has the ability to overcome any obstacle.
America’s future means a great deal to me because I live in a country where I have the freedom to stand up for what I believe ui and the right to make my own choices. With my family having a military background, it has been instilled in me that our country is worth fighting for. We are reminded every day of all the men and women who have lost their lives fighting for our country and the dedication put forth by these individuals. We have emerged from a civil war, a great depression, the 911 attacks, and a recent government shutdown to stand as one great nation. Americans have proved that we are a nation that may get knocked down, but will always get right back up, dust ourselves off and emerge stronger than before.
There are several ways we can brighten our future, namely innovation, technology, and education. The past 15 years have given us countless innovations that improve our daily lives. From internet technology. to environmental advances to genetics and many more, these advances have changed the way we communicate, relate to one another, and give us insight on what it means to be a modern human being. These days, we rely heavily on technology from surfing the web, sending an email, to taking a picture from a mobile device. With advancements with companies like Apple and Microsoft, it is safe to say that innovations will soar to new levels and is a good example that our nation will continue to grow and strives for the greatest advancements.
Technology is a very important part of our life, and no matter what you do you rely on technology. Technology advancements that affect everyday Americans could range from technology used in the classroom, improvement of medical technology, to military advancement technology, which are all ever changing areas and advancements in these fields will improve that our nation is at the forefront and has the ability to change the world and our future.
Education and learning is the number one way to automatically better our future. The best way to prepare for the future and all its challenges is to become educated about the past and taught how to make the best decisions for yourself and the people around you. We must learn from our mistakes to ensure that we will choose a path with positive results in the end.
How do we become more educated? There are three main steps that I have recognized when it comes to really learning something that are motivation, effort, and value. You must be motivated yourself to learn to be better yourself and your future, you must make time and give the best amount of effort towards seriously learning anything, and you must consider what value this will have to you and your future, because when it comes to the fate of America; it will have a huge impact regardless.
I myself am very optimistic about our future as a nation. I am very confident that through love for our country, innovation and technology advancements, and education, Americal is definitely in good hands with the many generations to come. The time to pass the torch to the next generation to leave our nation better than they found it. Optimism for our nation’s future brings with it hope, a future with purpose, and therefore, a will to fight for a better world and we must not ever lose our faith in the dream for a good life.
“What Patriotism Means to me”
The definition of patriotism in the dictionary is, love that people feel for their country. One thing that I have felt (though mainly on the Fourth of July or Labor Day) is love for my country. A true patriot in my eyes is a man who will give all they have just to protect their country, even if no one knows who they were, or even what they did for them. That is true patriotism in my eyes and should be rewarded not just with kindness but with thankfulness to that person and all others.
When I was in kindergarten I learned a song that I loved because of the messages that it has… I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free and I won’t forget the men who died who gave that right to me and I proudly stand up next to you and defend her still today ‘cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, god bless the USA.
To me that song helps define patriotism. Nothing else could make me prouder than if our country could learn to show patriotism on such a level that they would do as the song says and proudly stand up next to one another and defend our country, the USA. If we work together our country will be strong, together we can make a difference on our everyday lives.
A country is not made of a president, but of the people’s love for their country. In other words, the country is made by hard work, dedication, and self-sacrifice. All of that adds up to one thing, patriotism. No stronger word can be used; nothing else could ring so true, patriotism is not just a word. It’s the heart of our country.
Today many of the children’s ideas of a patriot involve George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr. However, it should involve more, many, many more. All of the people who have given their lives to defend our country, as well as the war veterans who have gone through the horrors of war are patriots, true patriots.
