The West Wendover Wolverine Academic Olympic Team got off to a slow start this season in Ely but rebounded strong against Winnemucca with a 2-1 win.
The Academic Olympics were begun in 1980. In the competition teams of six students per school are asked a variety of questions in a variety of topics ranging from trigonometry to the Bible and everything in between.
There are two rounds in each match players in between rounds. This year’s AOT is coached by teachers Sue Grenz and Rex Schoolcraft and is lead Capitan Ty Morley other members of the team include: Macario Mendoza, Estephani Cerros, McKenna Bair, Louie Copelan, Jesus Rosales, Andres Parra, Martin Rodriguez, Elena Gabriel, Blaine Becker, Jaxon Carter, Haran Carrillo, Trevor Hanson, Taylor Moore, Jeric Haynes, Viviana Castaneda, Zach Grant, Isabel Guiza, Kathya Perez, Nathan Buxton.
