Despite much warmer weather than the big chill of 2012 Wendover’s total gaming win for December fell by about 4.0 percent from the year before.
According to last week’s report from the Gaming Control Board Wendover clubs reported $12 million in total gaming win for December 2013 down just over 4.0 percent from December 2012.

“Win” is a gross figure, with no operating costs or other expenses deducted. And it’s casino revenue only _ separate from hotel, restaurant or bar revenues generated by the resorts.
While win indicates a casino market’s profitability another statistic “play” is an indicator of how casino workers are fairing. With some casino workers dependent on tips for up to half of their total income, play, the amount of money wagered by gamblers is a good indicator of how much casino workers received in tips and how many gamblers are actually in the casino.
According to the report win from sports betting and table games in Wendover was down 18.4 percent to $2.7 million. Play was down 12.4 percent to $13.6 million and hold declined from 21.76 percent to 20.37 percent.
Slot win at $9.4 million was up 0.9 percent. Slot play was down 10.3 percent to $168.9 million.
In the balance of the county total win fell 0.58 percent to $7.2 million.
Slot win was up 1.3 percent to $6.4 million. Slot play at $91 million was down 11.4 percent. On the tables clubs in the balance of the county posted a 13.6 percent decrease to $753,000.
For the entire state Nevada casinos pulled in nearly 10% more gambling revenue in December compared with the same time last year.
The Gaming Control Board reported that December casino winnings topped $1 billion. That’s up from $943 million in December 2012.
Las Vegas Strip winnings of $664 million were up almost 13% year-over-year. Downtown revenues of $42 million were also up 13%.
Reno casino winnings of $40 million were down about 1% from last December.
South Lake Tahoe casino revenues took a 25% dip, dropping to $16 million this December.
The state collected almost $36 million in fees based on the December winnings. That figure is a drop of almost 10% from the same time last year.
