A Montello man sits in the Elko County Jail on a $1.752 million bond charged with several counts of child rape and the possession of kiddie porn reported the Elko County sheriff’s Department.
John McReynolds aged 71, was arrested just before dawn Wednesday morning by Elko detectives and deputies just hours after the victim’s mother first called police Tuesday night.
“Our Wells substation first received the call,” said Detective Sgt. Nick Czegledi. “We immediately responded to interview the victim and the mother in Montello. “After the interview we requested and received a warrant and went to Mr McReynolds house.”
After an interview and a search of his house McReynolds was arrested and charged on three counts of sexual assault on a child under 16 years old one count of attempted lewdness with a child under 16 years old and on count of possession of child pornography.
With the exception of the child pornography charge all the counts relate to just the Tuesday incident the mother reported to the sheriff’s office.
