Three eastern Nevada wildfires are tonight contained or nearly contained.
Firefighters today fully contained the 9,100-acre Lages Fire, about 60 miles north of Ely in White Pine County. Rehabilitation of the fire area is expected to continue for a few more days.
Firefighters continue to monitor the Cottonwood and Middle Ridge fires in Lincoln County. The approximately 1,127-acre Cottonwood Fire, about 15 miles southeast of Pioche, is 90-percent contained. The 10,304-acre Middle Ridge Fire, about 25 miles southeast of Caliente, is 89-percent contained. Monitoring will continue until the fires are fully contained, which is expected by next week.
Visitors are reminded to exercise caution as flash floods in the recently burned areas will continue to be a potential hazard when rain storms are present. Drier air is predicted and the chance of thunderstorms will decrease by Friday with temperatures returning to normal averages.
This will be the last fire update, provided there is no significant activity.
