A couple of brazen barbecue bandits were arrested this week by West Wendover police.
According to West Wendover Police Lt. Donald Lininger, Francisco Rodriguez and Sophia Rave were arrested this Monday for the brazen September theft of a barbecue set from the local Smith’s.
Witnesses told police that as the couple left the store they walked by a display of Bar-B-Que’s. The male subject picked up a box which contained an unassembled BBQ and continued to walk off the property. A witness followed the subjects into a residential area before losing site of them.
Video surveillance was reviewed and the two subjects were recognized as Francisco Rodriguez and Sophia Rave. Rave was later located for an interview and subsequently arrested for interference/obstructing an officer.
On November 28 2014 Rodriguez was taken into custody for a warrant charging his failure to appear in court on traffic related incidents. Charges on the theft from the store are still being reviewed by the prosecuting attorney.
On November 30 2014 Rave was taken into custody on a warrant charging her with failing to appear on the original charges, and a second warrant for traffic related incidents.
