Wendover casinos showed a modest 1.47 percent in gaming win this March to $16.4 million reported the Nevada Gaming commission Wednesday.
While the entire state was off some $30 million this April Wendover casinos saw the slight increase primarily due to good weather.

“Win” is a gross figure, with no operating costs or other expenses deducted. And it’s casino revenue only _ separate from hotel, restaurant or bar revenues generated by the resorts.
While win indicates a casino market’s profitability another statistic “play” is an indicator of how casino workers are fairing. With some casino workers dependent on tips for up to half of their total income, play, the amount of money wagered by gamblers is a good indicator of how much casino workers received in tips and how many gamblers are actually in the casino.
Slot win was up 3.2 percent to $13.2 million. Slot play was up0.3 percent to $230.2 million. Slot hold increased from 5.58 percent in March 2014 to 5.74 percent this March.
On the tables win was up 5.1 percent to $3.2 million. Play was down 0.8 percent to $16.5 million while hold fell from 20.41 percent to 19.52 percent.
Total gaming win for the balance of the county dropped by 2.74 percent to $8.5 million.
Slot win was down 1.5 percent to $7.8 million. Slot play was up 23.9 percent to $107.9 million. Slot hold increased from 7.04 percent to 7.21 percent
Thanks to terrible losses on the sports books a win was down 13.7 percent to $712,000.
March’s statewide gaming “win” fell 3.1 percent, the report showed, pulled down by a 9.6 percent drop on the Las Vegas Strip.
For the fiscal year to date, the state is down 2.1 percent from a year earlier.
Lawton pointed to a 33.1 percent decline in gross revenues in high-stakes baccarat play in March. Without baccarat, the statewide win would have been up a fraction of a percent, he said.
