IBAPAH -Robyn Pete, a third grader at Ibapah Elementary School (near the Utah/Nevada border), won the Utah Division of State History’s annual Archaeology and Preservation Month poster contest.
Her winning entry is a drawing of a traditional stone skinning knife that her grandfather has had for many years. A monetary prize of $250 accompanied the recognition. Ibapah is the headquarters of the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation, a federally recognized tribe. 
We want to congratulate Robyn for her eye-catching , technically accurate drawing.
The drawing served as the focal-point for the poster. Robyn’s mother said her family is full of talented artists. (In the attached photo, Robyn is joined by her mother and grandmother a framed copy of her winning poster.) The winning design will be distributed statewide and displayed in the Rio Grande Depot.
Additional poster category winners include Harriet Priska (Best Adult), Abby Whitesides (Best Elementary School Student), Eliza Anderson (Best Secondary School Student). Honorable mentions go to Ella Whitesides, Ayden Gibbons, Calvin Jiricko, and Juliza Chacon.
Organizations throughout the state will host over 40 additional special events in 18 counties during May to help celebrate Utah’s amazing historic and archaeological heritage.
