A young Utah woman avoided what could have been a rape when she turned out to be not as drunk as her alleged assailant thought.
According to West Wendover Police reports the victim, described as a woman in her early 20’s was at a hen party at the Wendover Nugget this weekend.
“ Upon arrival officers interviewed a female that stated she was in need of assistance in walking to the restroom due to her shoes being unbuckled or united.” wrote WWPD Lt. Donald Lininger in a Tuesday press release. “An employee of the casino offered to assist her in walking her to the restroom. During this contact the employee, later identified as Carlos Aguilar, began a conversation with the female. Aguilar allegedly made some unwanted comments and advancements towards the female. The female was able to find a security guard after she fled the restroom to report the incident.
After interviews were completed with witnesses and Aguilar, he was placed into custody for Open/Gross lewdness. During a search incident to arrest Aguilar was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of narcotics.
Aguilar also had two warrants for his arrest for unrelated traffic incidents, one from the West Wendover municipal court and one from the Nevada Highway Patrol.
