Newmont Mining will be closing its offices in Wendover and Wells come Halloween but there is no need to fear, said External Relations Specialist Pamela Smith.
In fact the move actually indicates that the project is moving forward. Instead of splitting her time between Wendover and Wells, Smith will be moving to new digs at the mine site.
“As previously planned, Newmont will be closing the temporary External Relations offices located in Wells and West Wendover as of October 31st, 2015.” wrote External Relations Representative Natacia Eldridge “Pamela Smith, External Relations Specialist will remain as the Long Canyon representative and will transition to the Long Canyon administration building at the project site. Newmont is going full steam ahead in the construction of the Long Canyon Mine but so far the influx of mine workers has been a trickle in Wendover and Wells.
“There is really no reason to be concerned,” said Smith. “We told local officials this project would be completed in stages we informed potential workers just when the jobs we advertised for would start. Everything is going to plan.”
