Three Oregon residents were killed Friday in a head on collision on US 95 near Winnemucca.
NHP Troopers responded to a vehicle crash on US95 approximately 29 miles north of Winnemucca On October 19, 2015, at 1:05 pm.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Steven Briggs, age 24, from Coeur D Alene, ID, was driving a 2012 Chevy Malibu S/B on US95 in the oncoming travel lane passing vehicles. Jo Ann De Shong, age 66, from Hines, Oregon, was driving a 2013 Kia N/B on US95 in her travel lane. Mr. Briggs’ Chevy Malibu hit the Kia head on.
Jo Ann De Shong died at the scene.
Three other passengers were also in the Kia:
Blair De Shong, age 73, from Hines, OR—died at the scene
Clyde Wensenk, age unk, from Burns, OR—died at Renown Medical Center later that evening.
Martha Wensenk, age 62, from Burns, OR—transported to Renown Medical Center with serious injuries.
Steven Briggs and his passenger Dwayne Riggs, age 40, from Greenacres, WA, were also transported to Renown Medical Center with serious injuries.
