McGill and Ely are mourning the death of a 17 year old son, Jason Nelson killed in a traffic accident last Wednesday night.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol reports Nelson was driving a 1997 Honda Civic N/B on US93.  For unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed the centerline and traveled into the S/B travel lane.

At that same location, Mr. Clifford Lavoy, age 42, from Sparks, NV, was driving a commercial motor vehicle (tractor trailer set of doubles) S/B on US93.  Mr. Lavoy saw the Honda Civic enter his travel lane and attempted to avoid collision by steering to the right shoulder.  The front and left side of the Honda Civic hit the rear trailer of the commercial motor vehicle.  After the collision, the Honda Civic rotated counterclockwise and came to rest in the N/B travel lane.

“Sadly the lord has called on my favorite little guy. Jason went home on October 21. He was 17 years old. Nothing I can say will express my heartbreak. Everyone that knew him absolutely loved him. There was never a dull moment around Jason.

My family was in shock at the news. We need help with Jason’s funeral costs. Already this community has offered so much support, I woke this morning to many text messages and facebook messages. I truly appreciate all the condolences you are sending me. It just shows me that I raised an amazing human being and he was so well loved.

ellisonvetI would like to arrange the funeral as soon as possible so any donation would help. Thank you all so much.”

Within hours after the story was published on the High Desert Advocate’s web-page the entire cost of the boy’s funeral expenses was covered by donations.
