Pot is still illegal in Nevada, so learned a California man this week.
Brian Bernstein, 27, from California was arrested on a bevy of drug related charges with a speeding citation thrown in for good measure early Monday afternoon near Wells.
According to NHP reports Trooper made a traffic stop on a small SUV traveling E/B on I-80 near Wells, Nevada, for speeding.
When contacting the driver, Bernstein, age 27, from Pacifica, California, the Trooper E S Tumanuvao said he could immediately smell an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and suspected criminal activity. Further investigation lead to the discovery of 200 one pound bags of marijuana, which was found inside the SUV.
Bernstein was arrested and transported to the Elko County Jail without incident.
He was charged with about a half a dozen felony drug counts with a total bail of about $80,000.
With marijuana either legal or decriminalized on the west coast and Colorado, Interstate 80 is a major pot pipeline. Mules trucking grass must however get across Nevada and Utah where grass is still illegal in most cases.
