First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks to encourage people to get outdoors. On New Year’s Day, hundreds of free, guided hikes are organized each year in all 50 states, including Nevada. Last year nearly 28,000 people rang in the New Year with a First Day Hike, collectively hiking over 66,000 miles throughout the country.
Guided hikes led by park rangers and/or local volunteers were offered at State Parks throughout Nevada as part of the nationwide First Day Hikes Program. There were no charge for hikes, but park entrance fees applied.
(we will have an update for after New Year day hikes)
