Francisco Javier Haro, 22, suffered minor injuries during a vehicle rollover on Monday, January 11. Officers found Haro’s Ford Expedition on its top on the north side of Florence Way, in southern West Wendover, with Haro still inside. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
It was determined that Haro had been travelling west-bound on Florence and crossed over into the east-bound lanes. Haro overcorrected the vehicle and travelled broadside back into the west-bound lanes and off the north roadway. The vehicle struck a rock with the driver’s side front corner and vaulted into a drainage ditch landing on its top.
West Wendover Fire Department extricated Haro from the vehicle. He had obvious injuries to his head/face consisting of lacerations and scrapes and was taken by ambulance to a Salt Lake City hospital for further evaluation. The investigation in the crash is ongoing. Alcohol and speed are being looked at as the most contributing factors.
