Wendover High School celebrated Homecoming this year in a game against the Mt. Vernon Patriots. To start the celebration off, WHS held a “tailgate” party that afternoon where games, food and even a mechanical bull were part of the celebration. Both JV and Varsity maintained commanding leads throughout the game and got the victory. Varsity’s final score was 64 – 20. The Varsity’s current league standing is 5-3.
As part of the Homecoming celebration, WHS will begin a program of giving a “Wildcat Super Fan” award. The Super Fan award will be given to an individual who has and is a long standing supporter of WHS Athletics.
This year’s award was given to Dan Matthews. Dan and his wife Pat have been residents of Wendover since the later 1950’s and Dan’s support for WHS began back in 1967, the first year of Wendover High and the first year of Wildcat basketball. Since that time, Dan has been a regular fixture in the stands of WHS for both, the Cats and Ladycats.
