Divisional Game 1: West Wendover Wolverines Varsity musters 2 hits, drops 13-2 contest to Pershing County
West Wendover Wolverines Varsity fell 13-2 to Pershing County at LHS on Friday. #5, #18, #10 and #2 helped lead Pershing County. They combined for seven hits and seven RBIs. The game’s last lead went to Pershing County thanks to a first inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on a two-run double by #8, a groundout by #7, and an RBI single by #10. Pershing County tacked on another four runs in the second. The inning looked promising, as #5 singled, bringing home #1 to kick things off. That was followed up by #2’s double, plating #5. West Wendover Wolverines Varsity scored two runs in the top of the fifth to cut its deficit to eight. An RBI double by Madison Buxton and a sacrifice fly by Anahi Esparza sparked West Wendover Wolverines Varsity’s rally. But, #2 got Sarah Isaacs to fly out to end the game.
Divisional Game 2: West Wendover Wolverines Varsity get on top of Battle Mountain early but can’t hang on in 10-5 loss
West Wendover Wolverines Varsity built an early edge on Friday, but Battle Mountain roared back to steal a 10-5 victory at LHS. A passed ball gave Battle Mountain the lead in the fifth inning. Sydney Reamer paced West Wendover Wolverines Varsity at the plate. Reamer went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the first, second, and seventh innings. Battle Mountain was sparked by #6 and #32, who teamed up for four hits and seven RBIs. Battle Mountain jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A double by #6, scoring #4 and #11 started the inning off. After a quick strike from Battle Mountain, West Wendover Wolverines Varsity responded with three runs in the first. West Wendover Wolverines Varsity scored on a walk by Alyssa Thorn and a two-run double by Nayda Rodriquez. West Wendover Wolverines Varsity scored two runs of its own in the second. West Wendover Wolverines Varsity scored on an RBI single by Reamer and an error. The game’s last lead went to Battle Mountain thanks to a fifth inning rally that saw three runs cross the plate on a two-run triple by #6. Battle Mountain added four more runs in the top of the sixth. #32 homered, bringing home #11 and #4 to start the inning. That was followed up by #21’s single, scoring #6.
