Nevada Man Held In Missoula County Jail On $1.5 Million Bond for Child Sex Charges
50 year-old Anthony Maustionnio is being held in the Missoula County Jail on a $1.5 million fugitive warrant out of Elko County, Nevada.
Detective Jim Carpenter of the Elko County Sheriff’s Office asked Elko County Justice of the Peace Mason Simmons to issue the warrant that includes nine separate charges of sexual abuse of a minor child.
The charges listed go back and forth between six counts of ‘sexual assault on a child under 14 years’ and three counts of ‘lewdness with a child under 14 years’. All are felonies under State of Nevada statutes.
At his appearance in Missoula Justice Court, May 24th, Maustionnio told Judge Karen Orzech that he understood the charges against him and the possible penalties, and that he waived extradition, meaning he agreed to be transported back to Nevada. Judge Orzech noted that Maustionnio has appeared in Missoula City Court earlier in the day to hear charges of marijuana possession, and that sentencing on those charges had been suspended.
Orzech set a date of June 20 as a deadline to ensure that Maustionnio would be transported back to Nevada to face charge. Detective Carpenter is continuing the investigation.
