Elko County officials have recovered a body in an area of the South Fork of the Humboldt River where it was feared that a man have drowned over the weekend.

Undersheriff Kevin McKinney said they have not positively identified the male adult whose body was pulled from the water this Tuesday morning, June 7th. But he said preliminary indications are that it is 50-year-old Gilbert Corosco.

Elko County search and rescue crews were looking for the rafter who went missing in the fast-moving waters of the South Fork of the Humboldt River. The Washoe County Swiftwater Rescue team joined the search in the high waters Monday morning. Undersheriff Kevin McKinney says 50-year-old Gilbert Corosco was rafting with his daughter and two granddaughters when one of the rafts tipped over south of Elko Sunday afternoon between Jibbs and South Fork Reservoir.

McKinney said that one young girl who was in the capsized raft with Corosco was able to make her way to the riverbank. But he says Corosco was not wearing a life vest.
