Philosopher Camus wrote “Always go too far, because that’s where you will find the truth.”
McGill Summer Kick Off Saturday June 4th. was one of the best, great music, games and food. One of the best events was dunk the candidate. I was in charge of the tank.
Mike Coster, Richard Howe and Johnathan Dishong took their dunking in good spirit didn’t get me wet, much.
I believe I will request this job in the fall at the Big Splash. I had more fun then I think I should have.
Primary voting will be on June 14 and it is your responsibility to vote for the person or persons who will most benefit White Pine County. Vote!
White Pine County Economic Diversification Council
May 31, 2016
Agenda item A. Discussion /Action /Approval to Recommend that the White Pine County Consider Exiting Its Membership from the Great Basin Regional Development Authority (GBRDA) Effective Immediately .
A letter from Andrea Rossman sent a letter notifying WPC EDC of her resignation
from Eureka County EDC and recommend moving to the Northeastern Nevada Regional Development Authority (NNRDC).
Currently the GBRDA has no director and no solid direction.
With out a director there are no grants. There is a grant to pay 1/2 for director and this money will need to be returned. This group has no membership fees.
(A group with out a leader does not accomplish much, no matter the cost.)
Vote was taken to present this to the county commissioners. Vote was unanimous to proceed .
Agenda item B. Discussion/Action/Possible Approval to Recommend that White Pine County Request Membership in the NNRDC.
Pam Borda, Executive Director, sent an invitation to the WPC Commissioners to join the NNRDC. The membership fees will be $1.10 a year per resident, $11,290.80.
Carol McKenzie thinks this would be a good way to keep the EDC office open. Elaine Blackham stated the EDC has had little or no economic development for the last six years. Pam Borda is very active in bring economic development to other areas and feels she’ll do a great for White Pine County. Elaine also feels she, although not trained, could run the White Pine County EDC office with NNRDC membership.
A vote was taken to present this to the commissioners. Vote was unanimous to proceed.
The money is available in the EDC office to proceed with the membership and should be an asset to the county.
Once again I encourage you to call the commissioners and give them your thoughts, they need it.
