Updates from the City of Ely projects
Dave Berky , Street department will be increasing road work to be completed this year. Included are Winter Road and the whole Terrace area, 15th behind the Hospital ,Mountain View , 16th, Park Ave and Ave I all are to receive a micro seal coat to extend the life of the road by 10 years. The estimates came in lower than expected, so we are able to cover more roads. Works starts in July.
Murry Street project should start at the end of this month. We will not be able to start the asphalt this year, but will take care of the pipes, we will have to live with dirt filled trenches for a while.
County Projects
Bill Miller, County Road Department, Duck Creek road to be micro sealed, the mowing of weeds is to start on all county roads. (The cheat grass has grown quite high due to the rains we’ve had lately. It is extremely important to get it cut down before it dries out and we have a significant fire danger.)
Decision to increase the Public Transit budget.
Purchase of a snow truck for McGill, truck originally planned to purchase is unable to carry the weight of the snow. One with a heavier capacity axle is needed and will cost $80,000 more than planned. There is money in the county road department to cover the purchase. Purchase was approved.
