Officers from the West Wendover Police Department arrested a local man Saturday on burglary charges, after property was stolen from a water reuse plant.
The theft was reported by the plant Friday, said Lt. Don Lininger.
During the investigation, the officers reviewed surveillance footage and spoke to some employees. Police were able to determine that a man — identified as Manuel A. Trejo, 35, of West Wendover — entered the facility during the night.
Officers attempted to contact Trejo at his residence. However, he would not respond.
“The owner of the residence told officers that Trejo was hiding in a storage room. As officers began to make entry Trejo allegedly tried to escape, unsuccessfully,” said Lt. Lininger.
All information is being reviewed by the Elko County District Attorney’s Office for charges, concluded Lininger.
Trejo was arrested at 1488 Pinion Place in West Wendover for failure to appear after bail for a misdemeanor; resisting a public official; two counts of buying, possessing or receiving stolen property; burglary; and possession of burglary tools.
His bail was listed at $25,420.
