The body of a woman who was found at Boulder Beach, in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Monday July 18th, at about about 8 a.m. was declared an homicide. Her body was found with multiple stab wounds and cuts. Parks spokeswoman Christie Vanover said the investigation on last Monday shut down the middle section of the popular beach area that is used for special events but that the rest of the park stayed open.
Now the Clark County coroner’s office has identified her, this wednesday, as 61-year-old Kathleen Mary Ploutz. Metro Police are investigating the slaying.
Officials said it appears to be an isolated incident but won’t say if an attack actually took place where she was found, in the middle section of the popular Boulder Beach area that is used for special events.
Vanover said Lake Mead remains open.
