An Elko 13-year-old girl reported to her friend last July that she had been sexually assaulted by a family member.
“The friend reported the incident to her mother who later contacted the Elko Police Department,” said Lt. Rich Genseal. “The victim was interviewed by detectives and gave a detailed account of the incident.”
Daniel Charles Cooke, 35, of Elko was interviewed by detectives on Saturday. Cooke admitted to having a sexual encounter with the teen.
He was arrested and booked into the Elko County Jail on one count of sexual assault on someone under the age of 14.
His bail is listed at $500,000.
The case has been forwarded to the Elko County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution, said Genseal. Aug. 28

Steven R. Arnold Jr., 34, of West Wendover was arrested at 1045 Wendover Blvd. for committing or attempting to commit a fraudulent act in gambling and theft. Bail: $10,000 (No picture available).
