Area law enforcement, from Elko County Sheriff Department, Elko PD and West Wendover PD, made several arrests over the weekend of suspects accused of serious crimes.
• 33-year-old James Erspamer of Reno was jailed on two felonies after a concerned citizen reported a pickup had pulled into Opal Apartments, two subjects then loaded a motorcycle into the back and sped off. Following the report, the suspect truck was located on East Idaho. The 37-year-old driver of the pickup, Richard Pangborn of Spring Creek and his passenger Erspamer were interviewed. Police say the pair provided conflicting stories and after the owner of the motorcycle was located it was determined it had been stolen. Erspamer was being held on 40-thousand-dollars bail while Pangborn also faces grand theft and possession of stolen property counts with bail at just over $43,300.
•An Elko woman was arrested on suspicion of numerous drug counts after a traffic stop in Carlin. 37-year-old Melissa Higgins was booked on felony possession and open container as well as possession of paraphernalia with bail at more than $58,000.
•A Spring Creek man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of Domestic Battery by Strangulation – an enhanced felony. Cody D. Twitchell, 23, was being held on 20-thousand-dollars bail at the Elko County Jail. Bail: $20,000
James E. Helko, 42, of Spring Creek was arrested at 2000 Errecart Blvd. for the arrest of a fugitive felon from another state. No bail listed.
Janel R. Scholine, 22, of Salt Lake City was arrested on Interstate 80 for possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $5,000
Jesus M. Rodriguez, 29, of West Wendover was arrested at 101 W. Wendover Blvd. for failure to appear after bail for a misdemeanor, resisting a public official, two counts of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and giving false statement to or obstructing a public official. Bail: $43,365
Jennifer A. Beckman, 35, of Elko was arrested at 640 S. 12th St. for failure to appear after bail for a felony, a parole and probation hold, possession of a controlled substance, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting a public official. Bail: $6,780
Richard A. Pangborn, 35, of Spring Creek was arrested at the 5000-block of East Idaho Street for grand larceny of an auto and possessing, receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle. Bail: $40,000
Christopher R. Doescher, 30, of Elko was arrested at 442 Idaho St. for destroying the property of another. Bail: $2,000
Ricky N. Preston, 36, of Spring Creek was arrested at Enfield Avenue and Hawthorne Drive for domestic battery and destroying or injuring the property of another. Bail: $13,140
