“Several employees from Long Canyon, along with members of regional teams that support the new site, gathered together at the Carlin Refinery in early November. There, they witnessed the pour of the first doré bars produced from ounces mined and recovered at Long Canyon. Long Canyon will continue to ramp up through 2017, with full production expected by late summer.”said the spoke person for Newmont.
A doré bar is a semi-pure alloy of gold and silver, usually created at the site of a mine. It is then transported to a refinery for further purification. The proportions of silver and gold can vary widely. Doré bars weigh as much as 25 kg.
