In Wendover:
West Wendover Police Officers responded to a phone call from neighbors at a local apartment complex. When the officers arrived they found two people being involved in an argument. After interviewing them, the police determined that Ivan Lopez had been arguing with his girlfriend. During the argument, Lopez had struck his girlfriend and pointed a firearm at her while making threats to harm her. WWPD recovered a firearm at the residence. Lopez was taken into custody for domestic battery and assault with a deadly weapon. None of the two, Lopez or his girlfriend needed medical attention.
In Elko:
An Elko man is accused of stabbing someone he was working with during an argument on Park Road.
Jeremy Gallaher, 26, faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing Jose Zatary when the two began arguing.
According to Sgt. Jason Pepper, the knife was recovered at the scene and Gallaher was found at his home where he was arrested after being interviewed by the Elko Police Department.
Zataray suffered from a laceration on the left side of his chest and was treated at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital where he was expected to be treated and released.
Sgt. Pepper said that it was unclear what started the argument but that the confrontation happened while the two were working together.
“They were working on a shed or something together. They were pulling it apart for somebody,” he said. “Their stories differ on who swung first but they ended up in a fist fight that escalated to Jose getting stabbed.”
Gallaher’s bail was set at $50,000.
