Last Monday, March 19th 2018, a few minutes past midnight, a woman who just had won a jackpot of $10,000. at the Montego Bay Casino, got robbed in the parking lot. Tad Marshall was later arrested by local Wendover Utah police.

Police say they have now recovered most of the woman’s winnings.  Court documents attest that as the victim went to her car, Tad Marshall, 33, of Bountiful, approached her and stole her purse which had the cash winnings inside.

The robber, Tad Marshall, 33, of Bountiful, Utah, arrested later.(Tooele County Sheriff’s office)

“Marshall ran out from behind the vehicle parked next to her’s, grabbed her purse and ran,” a probable cause statement says.

The Montego Bay security was contacted by  Wendover Police, and was able to help identify Marshall. Local police then found Marshall in a Wendover, Utah motel parking lot and asked him if he had taken the money.

Court documents say that Marshall told officers “it’s in the car under the driver seat.” Wendover Utah Police confirmed that they found the cash where Marshall told them it was located.

While the casino is located in West Wendover, Nevada, the parking lot is across the state line in Wendover, Utah.  So the theft happened (and later the bounty in the car) actually on the Utah side of the border.

Authorities arrested Marshall and booked him into the Tooele County jail on charges of felony theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wendover police don’t know if Marshall saw the woman hit the jackpot at the Montego Bay Casino before the robbery, but even if they don’t say it, it is a probability.
