On May 23, 2017 Robert Floyd, my husband, received a liver transplant at Intermountain Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. At this time last year Robert and I were living in a small apartment next to the hospital, which we stayed in 3 months post transplant. We were going to the hospital daily for appointments and lab work. There were times that the prognosis was uncertain and when he would be admitted for procedures it would be overwhelming.
Today we feel truly blessed that his health is such that he can participate in the “Liver Life Walk” in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Liver Life Walk is the largest fundraising walk related to liver health in the United States. Funds raised help the American Liver Foundation provide critical research funding, public education and patient support. The walk was Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Sugar House Park, 1330 2100 S, Salt Lake City, Ut 84106. Festivities & Registration began at 8:30am/Shotgun Start was at 10:00am.
Robert’s goal was to try and reach $1,000.00 dollars in donations. Thanks to the generosity of the community and visitors, we have surpassed our expectations. As of today we have $1,067.00 in donations. We would like to thank Smith’s Food for allowing me to set up a table to provide information to the public and accept donations for the American Liver Foundation. A special thanks to Judy Ceballos, who herself is a kidney transplant recipient, for her help and support. She understands our desire to try and pay it forward for this amazing gift of life Robert has been given. We hope that our efforts and contributions can help others who are struggling with liver disease. Robert, Judy and I have decided to organize a liver/kidney walk in Wendover. We are very excited to start planning this event and hope to have your continued support.
