An Elko man was arrested over the weekend on a warrant accusing him of raping a former girlfriend in April.
Braden G. Wilfong, 27, of Elko was taken into custody at Fourth and Idaho streets for sexual assault and battery by strangulation.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Elko Justice Court, Wilfong is accused of visiting the alleged victim at her home early on the morning of April 1, months after last seeing her, and demanding sexual intercourse. When she resisted, he allegedly tried to put her “in a sleeper type choke hold … with both hands. The victim felt that she was close to losing consciousness before she was able to remove the Defendant’s hands from her throat,” stated a police report.
The (alleged) victim told police she later received texts from Wilfong referring to the encounter.
