Some of the lands near Wendover used to be part of the U.S. Air Force auxiliary range as Utah test and training range.

In 2009,  2014 and 2015, some of those lands were returned to different usage, some for the Air Force but some got returned to the BLM.

Now West Wendover City for more than 21 years have been trying to get some of that land from the BLM, in order to expand the town south of the city limits.

Finally, the BLM is now going to return some of it to the Airport, for airway protection zone and safety zones etc… and the rest to the West Wendover city. “Now that the BLM has the money, they will do some additional environmental work.” Chris Melville told us “with that, it will still take about 18 months to 2 years to complete”.
