“Salty Sergeant Major” car on the Salt Flats Sept. 9-10-11, probably until Sept. 13 at the World of Speed.(photo credit Sandy and Rod Beach)

“Salty Sergeant Major” car is after Rodney Beach career, here with wife Sandy.

The plan was to have the car ready to run at the World of Speed event at the Bonneville Salt Flats September 11-14, 2020. Before and after the World of Speed we displayed the car at car shows and other events. To finish building a car like this takes some help from sponsors. Help could be, parts, safety equipment or monetary. Any amount of help was greatly appreciated. Those that helped sponsor us have their company or organization logo on the car. The amount of help determined how large and where their logo is on the car. I also needed a firesuit rated SFI 2.A/15 to run in this class.

About me: In 2014 and 2018 I ran the 150 Club at the Bonneville Salt Flats in a 1968 Camaro. We have decided to build a 1970 Monte Carlo to attempt to break the Classic Gas Coup A/CGC class record which is currently 237.280 mph. The car will be built as a tribute to the men and women of the United States Marine Corps and the Oregon State Police. I had the opportunity to work with some of the finest men and women in the world before retiring from both of these outstanding organizations. My hope is that I can show everybody that just because you retire you don’t have to give up your dreams.
