Earl Lacy
Dec. 22, 1949 – Sept. 21, 2021
Wendover – On September 21, 2021 we lost my husband, our father, grandfather, brother, veteran and friend, Earl Lacy III (Bud).
He was born December 22, 1949 in Dragerton, Utah to Earl Jr. and Mary Jane Robinson Lacy, the second child of eight children. As a child and even into adulthood, Bud was always the peacemaker and he cared about other people and wanted to make sure everyone felt welcome and no one stayed a stranger.
Bud graduated from Wendover High School in the class of 1969 and then married the love of his life, Glenda Mahoney on September 13, 1969. Bud was drafted in 1970 into the United States Army. While serving in the Army, he served in Coleman Barracks, Germany as a lineman. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Army (1970 – 1972). He was forever proud to be called a Veteran. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bud loved being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He had a deep love for his family and was proud of their accomplishments.
He worked at Intrepid Potash, Inc. for 47 years as a heavy equipment operator and a dragline mechanic. Throughout his life, he served as a Reserve Deputy for Elko County Sheriff Department; a volunteer fireman for the Wendover Fire Department; an EMT for Wendover City; and a Hunter Safety Instructor, where he passed on his love of the outdoors to many young people. He also worked as a part time bartender at the State Line Hotel and Casino.
Bud is survived by his wife, Glenda, of 52 years; his son Earl DeJon and three grandchildren: Bailey Ann Anderson (Kenyon), Walker Lacy and Ashleigh Nielsen (Robert Rodriguez); brothers Rick (Ginny) and Ron; sisters Robin Robertson (Terry Parker), Lorelei Barrera (Mike), Terry Linares (Kenneth). He is preceded in death by his son DeLon, parents, brothers Scott and Randy, and many family members were waiting to embrace him in love. His grandchildren were his greatest pride and he will be missed by them most of all. He loved children and enjoyed playing with them. No matter the situation, he had a sense of humor and kept things light hearted and while being the mediator.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ward Chapel in Wendover, Utah. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 P.M. – 2:45 P.M. and the memorial services will begin at 3:00 P.M.
Please join the family on the East Side of the Church Building immediately following the memorial services. The Utah National Guard Honor Team will recognize Earl Lacy III for his commitment and service in the United States Army.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to family members and friends for their continuous love and support through his recent illnesses. Thanks to the Utah Cancer Specialists, as they always demonstrated their love and care for Bud; and to Tate Mortuary. Special thanks to the Utah National Guard Honor Team for their service.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, make a donation to Utah Cancer Society or the Utah Autism Foundation. Rest in Peace, Peacemaker.
