Legal Notice – Public Comment Sought on Resolution of Adverse Effects to Historic Properties related to the West Wendover Land Conveyance
On March 8, 2022, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wells Field Office (WFO) will begin accepting public comments, in accordance with 36 CFR 800.6(a)(4), on the National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 process for resolving adverse effects to historic properties related to the West Wendover Land Conveyance. The BLM is administering the direct conveyance of lands south of West Wendover, NV from the United States Air Force to the City of West Wendover, NV and Tooele County, UT. The authority for this direct land conveyance comes from a provision in Section 2843 of the National Defense Authorization Act (Public Law 107-314) of 2002.
The BLM WFO is seeking comments on the resolution of adverse effects to five historic properties within the land to be conveyed, including the Lincoln Highway, two WWII-era bunkers, a lithic scatter, and a rockshelter.
The public comment period on the Section 106 resolution of adverse effects process will be open for 30 calendar days. Comments must be received by April 7, 2022.
