The lousy economy was blamed for the cancellation of little League Football this summer.
According to Wendover Youth Football League organizer Karen Shepherd the season which was supposed to begin this week, was cancelled due to lack of sign-ups.
“The cost of sign up ($100) may have been to much for a lot of families,” Shepherd said last week.
The league has been in operation for about seven years and features intra city play among three teams.
it was founded by Wendover resident Bob Loncar first to instill in Wendover elementary School children the love of the game of football and also to help improve the performance of the local high school football team the West Wendover Wolverines.
While winning the State championship in 2003, the Wolverines have not put together a winning season since 2005.

But while the grid iron may be taking a rest this summer, there are alternatives to cracking heads on the football field.
Toana Vista assistant golf pro Sean Donigan said last week that golf lessons are still being offered at the course, $100 for five.
