Game 1: West Wendover Wolverines Varsity tops Battle Mountain in back-and-forth affair, 10-5
West Wendover Wolverines Varsity and Battle Mountain passed the lead back and forth six times on Friday, but in the end West Wendover Wolverines Varsity pulled out a 10-5 win in seven innings over Battle Mountain.
West Wendover Wolverines Varsity took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. West Wendover Wolverines Varsity went up for good on an RBI single by Anahi Esparza off #32, bringing home Madison Buxton. An RBI single by Esparza scored Buxton to give West Wendover Wolverines Varsity the lead for good. Sydney Reamer racked up three RBIs on three hits for West Wendover Wolverines Varsity. She singled in the third and fourth innings and doubled in the seventh inning. In the top of the first, West Wendover Wolverines Varsity grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Battle Mountain tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single by #32 that scored #4.
Game 2: West Wendover Wolverines Varsity uses big first inning to beat Battle Mountain, 7-0
A four-run explosion in the first inning spurred West Wendover Wolverines Varsity to a 7-0 win in seven innings over Battle Mountain on Saturday. West Wendover Wolverines Varsity scored in the first on an error, a two-run double by Nayda Rodriquez, and an RBI single by Madison Buxton. Rodriquez went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for West Wendover Wolverines Varsity. West Wendover Wolverines Varsity increased its lead with two runs in the seventh. Yesi Gonzalez started the inning with a single, plating Sydney Reamer. That was followed up by Rodriquez’s double, scoring Gonzalez.
Game 3: West Wendover Wolverines Varsity falls to Battle Mountain 4-1
West Wendover Wolverines Varsity lost despite Sydney Reamer’s spectacular day from both the mound and the plate. Reamer led West Wendover Wolverines Varsity’s offensive threat, as she got on base two times in the game. She singled in the third inning. Reamer baffled Battle Mountain, striking out eight batters. Reamer allowed three earned runs, six hits and no walks over six innings. Battle Mountain didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the second inning when it scored on a groundout by #15 and. Battle Mountain pushed across one run in both the third inning and the sixth. In the third, Battle Mountain scored on an RBI double by #11, bringing home #4. In the sixth inning, West Wendover Wolverines Varsity pushed across its only run of the day on a walk by Nayda Rodriquez.
