According to confidential sources there was considerable doubt whether a jury would ever hear the case but negotiations apparently broke down sometime last week.
Manzonie pled not guilty to molesting an Elko girl in his Spring Creek home. District Judge mike Memeo set the trial for September 6. It is scheduled to last two weeks.
When the trial takes place it will be one year since the Elko businessman was originally arrested for the crime
Which according to the Elko County Sheriff’s office allegedly occurred several years ago.
Detective Sgt. Kevin McKinney said his office was contacted by a “young woman” who claimed Manzonie sexually abused her.
As a result of an investigation, Manzonie was arrested last September and booked into the Elko County Jail
On the pending charge with $250,000 bail. He bailed out at the same day of his arrest.
McKinney said the alleged incident occurred at Manzonie’s residence, and the incident occurred several years ago.
McKinney said the alleged victim only recently came forward because she was “now of an age where she felt able to make such a disclosure.”
