Hundreds of Wendover residents thronged to the official grand reopening of the local R Place last week.

The new improved R Place informally reopened this April and boasts a full service truck stop/travel center. The expansion was the single largest investment in either Wendover, Utah in well over a decade and brought in over 25 new jobs to the community.

R Place includes a convenience store, laundry, driver’s lounge, paved parking and several eateries including Taco Time, Piccadilly Circus Pizza and Subway. It is also located near several casinos and restaurants. It is part of the AMBEST network of independent truck stops.
The travel station also features “Shore Power”. Shore power works much like plug-in stations commonly found at RV parks and boat marinas. By plugging trucks into a power pedestal, drivers can operate heating, air conditioning and cab appliances without having to leave the truck idling during their mandatory 10-hour rest periods.
