The Elko County Library is going digital in a big way with downloadable audio and ebooks.

Long in the forefront of bringing the latest technology to residents the new service allows Elko County residents to patronize the library at home. All one needs is a computer or reader device such as a kindle or iPad and a library card.
“We think the new service will become very popular,” said Library administrator Laura Oki. “We noticed a big demand in audio and ebooks especially with the entry of ereaders and iPads.”
Covering an area as large or larger than many countries the Library system has branches in every city and town in Elko County. Even so there are still hundreds if not thousands of county residents on farms, ranches and mines for whom a trip to the library means 100 miles or more in travel.

In addition to those rural resident the new service lets everyone access the digital library anytime anywhere.
