The hot summer days are here in Wendover but children here go to the pool to cool off and to the library to have some fun reading and doing craft activities related to some books.
The librarian Kelly Eveleth incites them to enter a weekly lottery for prizes. More days they come, more they can enter and have a chance at a prize. Of course the prizes are age related.
We talked to Kelly who said “The W. Wendover Branch Library of the Elko-Lander-Eureka County Library System provides a Summer Reading Program every year. It is sponsored by Barrick Mines. Children from toddler through age 18 participate working towards reading goals. Good job prizes and weekly drawing prizes are awarded. In addition, there are weekly crafts and activities for the participants. This year the theme is Wendover Rocks. The library thanks the Spillman Sisters, creators of the Facebook Page “Wendover Rocks,” who assisted in rock painting. Participants also have created bead bracelets, foam crafts, and decorated maracas. The Wendover library program ends July 25th.”
