Officers arrived with a drug dog and with the canine confirming the smell, police applied for and got a search warrant for the parcel. Suspicion and nose were confirmed when the package was opened and the fresh grass was found.
Police then waited for the package to be picked up which it was that same day by Mize. The 58 year old Wendover man was arrested on the spot and booked on $737.00 bail.
Postal inspectors were also notified but winning a conviction against Mize may prove difficult. He could quite easily claim ignorance about what exactly was in the package. The official press release did not mention if the package had a return address.
