A 21 year old Ely man was charged with attempted murder Saturday after stabbing another man in a fight reported the White Pine County Sheriff’s Department.
Matthew Williams is being held at the White Pine county jail on a half million dollar bond for Williams for battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm and attempted murder.
According to white Pine county Sheriff’s press release the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fight that had occurred in the 500 block of Clark Street in Ely at 1:30 am early Saturday morning. The reporting party stated that one of the individuals had been stabbed. When officers arrived they located a male adult who had received a stab wound to his upper chest. The victim was transported to E.R. by ambulance and later life flighted to the University of Utah Medical Center. Williams was identified as the attacker by witnesses but had since fled the scene. He was later located and was arrested.
