ELECTION 2020 NEWS UPDATE
Yes, all active registered voters will be sent a mail-in-ballot, but the Elko County Clerk’s Office is in the process of recruiting and training election workers in the hopes of opening 7 polling locations so that you can vote in person.
No matter which way you choose to vote, you NEED TO HOLD ON TO THAT MAIL-IN-BALLOT. If you plan on voting in person, you will need to surrender that ballot to the election workers at the polling place and complete a Certificate for New Ballot in order to vote in person.
You may also drop off your mail-in ballot at the Clerk’s office or any polling location and during Early Voting. Drop boxes will also be available at the Carlin and West Wendover City Clerk’s Offices during their normal business hours from October 19 through October 29, 2020.
If you choose to vote in person, please be aware that there may be long lines because the check-in process will be longer. All polling locations will be in compliance with social distancing restrictions and all election equipment will be sanitized between voters to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The Clerk’s Office is receiving a high number of inquiries regarding third-party mailings notifying voters that they may not be registered to vote. Please note these notices are not coming from the Clerk’s Office. Voters are encouraged to verify their voter registration information by calling the Clerk’s Office at (775) 753-4600, by email at election@elkocountynv.net or online at https://www.nvsos.gov/votersearch.
The Clerk’s Office is working closely with the United States Postal Service to ensure the timely delivery of the mail-in ballots.
