Since the morning, Trump supporters arrived at the Capitol and started protests. Meantime President Trump was continuing to tweet that the election was stolen. He fired up his supporters at an earlier morning rally and pointed them out to the Capitol.
At about 4pm (ET) more enforcement were arriving in force trying to stop the unrest. At the beginning, the law enforcement were holding back to use tear gas,… Dozens of supporters of President Donald Trump breached security perimeter and entered the Capitol as Congress was meeting, expected to vote to affirm Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential win. They were seen fighting with officers both inside the building and outside.
The protesters had entered the Capitol… and then one shot was heard, a woman had been shot in the chest, she later on died of her injuries. The district’s police chief said at least 13 people were arrested, and five firearms had been recovered.
Reporters covering the stories were fearing for their lives.
The Vice President, Mike Pence and also all members of the Congress present were ushered to safety. The counting of the votes temporarly stopped.
The Vice President said that the violence and destruction at the Capitol must stop and must stop now… people will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law”.
President elect Bidden addressed the people of America: “At this hour our Democracy is assaulted. An assault of the rule of laws, the scene being seen at the Capitol doesn’t represent America, it is a small number of extremists, I call this mob to pull back…this is not dissent this is insurrection…Mr. President, go on national television now and demand an end of this siege…this is not protest, it’s insurrection, … …we will endure, and we will prevail, Honor, Respect, Rule of Law, looking out for one an other, America is about honor, a secret ritual, American democracy, Democracy is fragile, …not the pursuit of Power but for the common good… We, the people, have kept our eyes on the common good… This is the United States of America… President Trump step up…”
Thousands of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, prompting the House and Senate to abruptly take a recess as the U.S. Capitol. Police locked down the building. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered a citywide curfew from 6 p.m. on Wednesday until 6 a.m. on Thursday.
Protesters had amassed in Washington, D.C., to reject the results of the Nov. 3 election, cheering as President Trump himself addressed the crowd and urged them to protest what he falsely claims was a rigged election before marching to the Capitol and pushing past security barriers there.
The protests are timed to coincide with Congress’ certification of the Electoral College votes and aim to pressure Republican lawmakers into supporting Trump’s effort to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory.
Trump supporters, many wearing red MAGA hats but no face masks, gathered at The Ellipse where the president addressed them midday Wednesday. The crowd faced the White House and a stage was flanked by two big “Save America March” signs swaying to the beat of music.”
Vice President Mike Pence has been encouraged to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove the President from Office, as called during the day by an association of Business men. The Senate resumed the counting of the votes at 8 p.m ET. at the Capitol building.
